In June 2005 Custom Frames were asked by BALI ( British Association of Landscape Industries) to participate as a sponsor of their show garden for the BBC Gardeners World Live Show at the N.E.C Birmingham. Working with garden designers Alison and Graham Evens of Gardens Co, we were asked to frame a large acrylic mirror as a centre piece of the garden.
The mirror supplied by our good friends and trading partners at Plastics Plus Ltd first had to be bonded down onto 20mm exterior ply and then ‘float’ framed in one of the new Nielsen’s aluminium profiles which are superb for this purpose and also canvases Nielsen’s profile 28 comes in soft finish aluminium or brushed aluminium and black. With the acrylic mirror in place, this reflected a harmonious arrangement of familiar garden elements, lawn, paving & aggregates, along with brushed steel arcs and Buxus planting to introduce the BALI logo. The show was attended by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. The garden was officially opened by T.V gardener Andy Sturgeon and was also featured on Gardeners World on the 17th June 05 by Monty Don and Joe Swift.
