Post: Picture Framing Assistant

Custom Frames Ltd requires a Picture Framing Assistant to cover maternity leave, to work 30 hours per week, days and times are negotiable. This is a 6 month minimum temporary post but could lead to a permanent position.

We are looking for a smart "front of house" person who has excellent communication skills, is good with people and has a friendly telephone manner.

This person will advise and take framing orders from our walk-in customers and also process orders from our trade and corporate clients. They will also be required to prepare work to be framed which will involve using a computer operated mount cutter.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic with the ability to work on their own initiative, have sound computer skills and be able to measure work accurately.

No previous experience of picture framing is necessary as training will be given.

Job Description

Terms: 30 hours over 4 days – working times flexible. This is a temporary post to cover maternity leave but could lead to permanent employment

Holiday: 1 day per month for every month completed

Salary: £8.00 per hour

Job Outline

To advise and take framing orders from walk-in customers

To process orders from trade and corporate clients

To prepare work for framing

 

Main Tasks & Duties

Greeting customers and taking their orders

Advising on different framing options available and pricing.

Use of computerised equipment including PC and Mount Cutter

Managing stock levels and re-ordering when necessary

Liaising with suppliers

To support framing team when required

 

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

Experience of working in a retail environment and/or a background in the visual arts / photographic is desirable but not essential

No previous experience of picture framing is necessary as full training will be given

Skills & Aptitudes

Basic IT and computer skills

Sound arithmetic and the ability to measure accurately

Good time management and organisational skills

Ability to work on own initiative

Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines

Good communication skills – written, verbal and face-to-face

Ability to work within a small team in a professional environment
